This Writing Life

March 9, 2023March 9, 2023 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ 2 Comments

Writing a book is an interesting challenge. Some of the difficulties were expected. Some not at all. Overall, I am relishing in the task. It is pushing me out of my comfort zone and demanding of my focus. My brain is enjoying the everyday arduous workout. Being stretched around concepts, being forced to look critically … Continue reading This Writing Life

The Story So Far…

February 17, 2023 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ 4 Comments

When I decided to take a year off work to write a book, it felt like a leap of faith. It still does. It's a risk, but one that, so far, I am so happy I took. I am relishing sitting in the space of my memories. Surprised by what is coming up and wants … Continue reading The Story So Far…

As some readers will know, 10 years ago my late husband, Michael committed suicide. To say it was life changing would be an understatement. Six years ago, I met Stu. Equally as life changing, in a vastly more enjoyable way. Stu is Canadian and played ice hockey for many years. On a recent trip to … Continue reading Project 11 and Hockey

Sitting in my space I have made to write in this year, I am filled with excitement, anxiety and anticipation. This is the year I have carved out to write. Something I have dreamed of doing since I was a child. Having recently turned 50, I have finally decided to shrug off the self-doubt, the … Continue reading 2023 A Year of Writing

I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which I write and live, and the rich history of storytelling being an important part of the culture. I pay my respects to the elders, past and present, and acknowledge sovereignty of this land was never ceded.

Talking with Marion Taffe about her book By Her Hand yesterday morning was such a joy. Last night’s sunset from our deck. Every day is different 🙌😍 #sunset🌅 #bigsky My pride and joy in Grade 6 ☺️ the library has always been my happy place Come see me, In Conversation with Marion Taffe, about her very excellent book, By Her Hand. Saturday morning 🙃 Belgrave Library at 11am. One of us has settled in extremely well and is enjoying being an only child #genji #treehousecat #midcenturymodern After wallowing, or was it drowning, in stress and grief and moving house, I’ve finally pulled on my big girl writing pants and put an order in for my gorgeous friend, @annefreemanwrites new book 🥳 I was surprised that I wasn’t too late for the goodies 🪩 It’s been ages since I posted. I’ve been moving house and bereft at the loss of my soul companion, Yoki-san 😭. My cultural cup is full after escaping moving house to enjoy a couple of sessions at Melbourne Writers Festival. A delayed post…I’ve been off socials for a week. But, it was surreal to see my name, face, words, and photos in print in the relaunched @thehillscene magazine 🤩 Congratulations @adridaze on the excellent capture of the hills creative community ❤️ thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to contributing further 🥳
