The Death of Critical Thinking

March 31, 2026April 2, 2026 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ Leave a comment

Or How AI and Algorithms are Changing Our Lives What do we stand to lose from spending our lives looking into a mobile screen which holds all the information we could ever desire to know, and then some we never wanted to. Much of this information is added by people who have gathered their information … Continue reading The Death of Critical Thinking

Travel Reading: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

November 21, 2025 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ Leave a comment

One of my favourite things to do before travelling is to read books set in the places I'm visiting. Sometimes memoirs, sometimes non-fiction, and sometimes historical fiction. The Wolf Hall Trilogy, by Hilary Mantel is the epic story of the meteoric rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII's right hand man, and Lord Privy … Continue reading Travel Reading: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

My Month of Miserable Memoirs

April 3, 2025 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ 1 Comment

And another three months slip by, just like that. Juggling all the things when you're trying to write is not easy. I 'finished' my memoir some months ago, but have been in an editing frenzy, that feels like a carnival ride that I can't get off. Where do you stop? And on the other hand, … Continue reading My Month of Miserable Memoirs

My Year of Reading

February 9, 2024February 9, 2024 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ Leave a comment

My year of writing has been accompanied by a year of reading. I have always been an avid reader. As a school student, I was able to walk to and from the train station each day without looking up from the page. I could read in the car, even on winding roads, and on boats, … Continue reading My Year of Reading

I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which I write and live, and the rich history of storytelling being an important part of the culture. I pay my respects to the elders, past and present, and acknowledge sovereignty of this land was never ceded.

My cultural cup is full after escaping moving house to enjoy a couple of sessions at Melbourne Writers Festival. A delayed post…I’ve been off socials for a week. But, it was surreal to see my name, face, words, and photos in print in the relaunched @thehillscene magazine 🤩 Congratulations @adridaze on the excellent capture of the hills creative community ❤️ thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to contributing further 🥳 One week without you, and I was so broken hearted, we moved house. I couldn’t bear not seeing your little face at the window. I miss you, Yoki-san, you took a piece of me with you ❤️ Last night we had to say goodbye to my best friend, my little saviour, and the best dog I’ve ever known, Yoki-san, after a brief and rapid decline. Last night’s sunset from the deck of our new house 🌅 If you’ve listened to the podcast, this is the sweet little mouth that was singing ‘The Roof Is on Fire’. So sweet, so cute, just starting kindergarten. The sunset in Brasil, that I talk about in the podcast. It was spectacular. I loved listening to the episode of That Day podcast with Jac and Kylie, as it reminded me of how lucky I am. This photo of Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro, was taken from a helicopter. I actually looked into those stone eyes as we circled around the statue. A pinch me. is this real moment. That Day Podcast
