My heart broke, properly, on this day in 2013. I'd had relationship breakups before then, but this was different. I remember some of it in incredible detail, and other parts are vague and blurred, like an impressionist painting. The sense of sadness and trauma remain but have been softened by time. My heart recovered, but … Continue reading 29 July, 2013

Eleven Years

July 29, 2024 ~ Kylie Eklund-Denman ~ Leave a comment

Eleven years ago, on this day, you walked out the door and never came back. When I started writing my story about what happened; your suicide; and the kids and my journey through grief and adversity, I thought it'd be a reasonably short and easy process. I was telling a story I lived through. How … Continue reading Eleven Years

I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which I write and live, and the rich history of storytelling being an important part of the culture. I pay my respects to the elders, past and present, and acknowledge sovereignty of this land was never ceded.

Come see me, In Conversation with Marion Taffe, about her very excellent book, By Her Hand. Saturday morning 🙃 Belgrave Library at 11am. One of us has settled in extremely well and is enjoying being an only child #genji #treehousecat #midcenturymodern After wallowing, or was it drowning, in stress and grief and moving house, I’ve finally pulled on my big girl writing pants and put an order in for my gorgeous friend, @annefreemanwrites new book 🥳 I was surprised that I wasn’t too late for the goodies 🪩 It’s been ages since I posted. I’ve been moving house and bereft at the loss of my soul companion, Yoki-san 😭. My cultural cup is full after escaping moving house to enjoy a couple of sessions at Melbourne Writers Festival. A delayed post…I’ve been off socials for a week. But, it was surreal to see my name, face, words, and photos in print in the relaunched @thehillscene magazine 🤩 Congratulations @adridaze on the excellent capture of the hills creative community ❤️ thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to contributing further 🥳 One week without you, and I was so broken hearted, we moved house. I couldn’t bear not seeing your little face at the window. I miss you, Yoki-san, you took a piece of me with you ❤️ Last night we had to say goodbye to my best friend, my little saviour, and the best dog I’ve ever known, Yoki-san, after a brief and rapid decline. Last night’s sunset from the deck of our new house 🌅
