I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which I write and live, and the rich history of storytelling being an important part of the culture. I pay my respects to the elders, past and present, and acknowledge sovereignty of this land was never ceded.

I travelled to the other side of Melbourne today, or ‘the wrong side of the river,’ as my grandfather used to taunt my Williamstown born grandmother. I went to do a workshop with the very knowledgeable Kate, @kmildenhall at Sunshine Library. The session was part of the Brimbank Readers and Writers Festival. As always, listening to Kate speak made me a little bit more clever, and a lot more clear on where I’m going and what I need to do. I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but had enjoyed Mark's other book, and once I started, I strapped in and enjoyed the ride. Sandra Kuecher is still looking after me ♥ 11 years later. This was my beautiful care package she sent me off to Japan with. Me, my two girls, aged 14 and 9, and a month of adventures awaiting us. Is Suicide a Dirty Word? Symphony Tower Tokyo by Rie Qudan, expertly translated by Jesse Kirkwood, is every language lovers perfect read. A story which looks at language on many levels, including the structure and architecture, the appearance of, and way you read the components or characters, and the way meaning is conveyed through the words themselves. My beautiful friend Maki, from @guesthouse.soi.kyoto , sent me this spectacular 'The Tale of Genji' inspired incense. 'The Tale of Genji' is a novel, over a thousand years old, and is the inspiration for my work in progress. Some local morning inspiration 😍 #wrìterslife #dandenongranges #wallabies #morningwalk #australianwildlife Thanks @katesollywriter for having us at your writing workshop last night, at Carnegie Library. It's always great to listen to you talk. Plus, I love your colour coding. As a fellow ND, it appeals, a lot! Thanks to @aaron.clarkpear for taking this photo and making me look natural, and normal. I hate having my photo taken, but you made it easy 😍 big love, little bro ❤️ #wrìterslife #authorshot #usuallyawkward
